mainman3.jpgGeorge Pierson’s design career has taken him from Kansas City where he started as a greeting card illustrator for Hallmark Cards to New York City where he spent 15 years as Design Director for HBO’s award winning Creative Service department in its early start up days. His print design department and HBO’s on-air group have been widely recognized for introducing desktop publishing and video to television starting in 1986. Before joining HBO, George was a graphic designer and art director at  ABC, WNBC-TV and NBC in New York.

He joined Discovery Communications in 1994 to help expand its creative services department.  As Senior Vice President, his Design Group grew from a 5 person department serving just two networks to 70 persons providing creative services for all business divisions and networks.

His department has received numerous international design awards. George has been invited to judge professional design competitions throughout his career. He has served on international television design and promotion boards for BDA and Promax in addition to being a trustee for Ringling College of Art & Design in Sarasota, Florida since 1987.

Ringling since then has grown and expanded its student body, increased its accredited majors program, endowment, campus facilities and is now recognized by Business Week magazine as one of the worlds’ most innovative design schools.

George was awarded Ringling College of Art and Design’s first Distinguished Alumnus Awards in 2007 as part of their 60th year anniversary celebration.

In addition to his corporate design career, George is a painter and digital photographer. His work has been exhibited in Washington D.C, Florida, and Maryland.

Throughout his career George has explored all aspects of creativity and consciousness development. In 2003 he formed Creative Mindflow LLC, a unique brainwave training services for groups and individuals that allows him to share his to share his creative expertise with others. (formerly, Bethesda Academy of Performing Arts, Inc.) in 1979.  Imagination Stage, a private, not-for-profit theatre arts center for children and families, nurtures the creative spirit, inherent in all children, by using theatre to open hearts, inspire minds, and ignite imaginations.
